Welcome to 2025! This is the year for moving forward with a deeper sense of Identity, Purpose and Direction. I love the beginning of a calendar year and enjoy hearing about how different practices aid individuals in reflecting on the previous year and refining focus for the year ahead. For me, January is defined by three intentional exercises: reviewing and reflecting on God’s faithfulness from the previous year, selecting my word for the year, and determining strategic goals personally and professionally for the year. What helpful practices have you adopted this month?
Whether you are stepping into this year with joy, sorrow, triumph or tragedy—maybe a combination, each aspect of our lives benefits from this month’s topic—Resilience. This is not a character trait or variable that we are born with, but one that each one of us has the opportunity to grow within. Clearly stated, it is the ability to withstand or move forward in the midst of stress, challenge and difficulty. As a member of my “Life Team” often reminds me, “Erin, it is not a matter of if—it’s a matter of when there is conflict, challenge, and difficult times.” My personal experience and coaching clients have taught me this is the truth. So, what are action steps we can take as a community to grow Resilience?
- Prioritize mental health.
- Build community.
- Pursue purpose.
- Take courageous steps.
As I often tell my clients, small adjustments are the way to sustainability which leads to life-change. So, is there a mindset that if you adjusted resilience would increase? Could you add someone to your community that would provide directional and relational support increasing your resilience? What if you said no to something that is an obligation and yes to something that brings life? I am excited to provide further encouragement and equipping by answering the following questions this month:
- How does Resilience relate to Identity (Who am I)?
- How does Resilience relate to Purpose (Where am I called)?
- How does Resilience relate to Direction (What steps should I take)?
Thriving Together,
~Erin
