In an instant, everything can change. The message simply read, “Erin, please pray. Our house has been hit by lightning.” My heart immediately sunk.

Living in the great state of Florida, better known as the lightning capital of the nation, strikes during the
summer months are normal occurrences. Even though it is commonplace, this acts as a constant reminder of the power strikes can create and the process that proceeds following this type of traumatic event.

As damaging as a lightning strike can be it always leads to the same question, “What is now working?” By the grace of God, my friend and her family were safe, but the damage to their home was life-altering. As we talked the next day and she was walking from room-to-room assessing damage, it was apparent that the only way to move forward was to Reset. Our lives are similar.

By definition, reset means to “set again or differently”. I would encourage you to ask yourself this month as we are halfway through the calendar year:

*What do I need to set again? For me, I will continue to consume water consistently as it aids my mindset and stamina. I will continue to schedule lunch once a month with a friend who fills my cup.

*What do I need to do differently? As my oldest daughter is going away to college, our family travel loop is expanding. I will begin to simplify our schedule at home with the other two in order to create meaningful margin for communication, travel, and day-to-day life. Also, in order to successfully fulfill requests for speaking engagements, I will carve out time to prepare and adjust my coaching schedule.

For you, how could the second half of 2025 be better than the first by choosing to Reset? Think about your, “Wheel to Thrive” (quick tutorial in “Rest” blog post), and remember small adjustments are the type that create sustainable, lasting change.

Thriving Together,
~Erin
